Alexei Navalny Farewell Ceremony Announced, Death Still Suspicious
Spokesperson Kira Yarmysh announced on social media that a farewell ceremony for the late dissident Alexei Navalny will be held this weekend.
His associates are currently searching for an appropriate venue to host the event.
Meanwhile, a close ally of Navalny, Maria Pevchikh, has alleged that the Russian opposition figure was on the verge of being released as part of a prisoner exchange.
“Alexei Navalny could have been here today. This is not a figure of speech, it could and should have happened. Navalny was supposed to be free in the next few days, because we made a decision about his exchange. In early February, Putin was offered to exchange a murderer, FSB officer Vadim Krasikov, who is serving a life sentence for murder in Berlin, for two American citizens and Alexei Navalny. On the evening of February 15, we received confirmation that the negotiations were ongoing and were at the final stage. On February 16, Alexei was killed,” said Marina Pevchikh.
The editor-in-chief of The Insider publication, Roman Dobrohotov, said on the Scaner show on Moldova 1 that Alexei Navalny was allegedly poisoned. For this reason, the body of the Russian opposition figure was not released to the relatives from the very beginning, the journalist believes.
“There is also evidence that the marks on the body are bruises characteristic of resuscitation performed when the person is having convulsions. They are also characteristic of Novichok. We also know that he was healthy the day before. There were medical tests that did not show that he had suffered from a blood clot. It's unlikely he died of natural causes. Finally, there is evidence that some people came to the colony the day before his death, there are witnesses. It was an unplanned visit, something happened before the death,” said Roman Dobrohotov, editor-in-chief of The Insider.
Also of note, on February 24, the body of Alexei Navalny was released to his mother.
