"We will support the creation of an end-to-end value chain of this high added value product, through the lens of this project we will work with the associations of farmers who grow table grapes. We have great prospects to focus on the development of this branch as a branch of the national economy, the production of table grapes with an extraordinarily high potential for export and to increase the incomes for the farmers of the Republic of Moldova", said the Minister of Agriculture and the Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea.

"It is a pleasure for us to sign this project document which provides more support to the Republic of Moldova in relation to the future accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. This is also very important in the situation when your country faces multilateral crisis, which we have in the agricultural sector, including at the global level, and the situation related to the war in Ukraine, and climate change," said Raimund Jehle, FAO representative in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the signed document, the project will facilitate the creation of five Field Schools for Farmers across the country, where table grape producers will have the opportunity to learn and to adopt sustainable production skills and marketing innovations.

Official data show that annually, the Republic of Moldova produces around 110 thousand tons of table grapes, of which over 60 percent are for export.
