Are Moldovan Salaries Keeping Up? 2023 Breakdown

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that the average monthly gross salary in Moldova increased by 3.4% in 2023 compared to the previous year.

It reached almost 12,400 lei (about $650). The highest-paying sectors remain information and communication, as well as finance.

Data shows that information and communication workers command the highest gross salaries – over 31,000 lei (about $1,600) on average. This is followed by the finance and insurance sector, averaging almost 26,000 lei (about $1,350), and the energy sector with salaries reaching almost 20,000 lei (about $1,050).

Healthcare and social care workers also earn competitive salaries, averaging almost 16,000 lei (about $850). In contrast, those in arts, recreation, and entertainment earn around 10,000 lei (about $530). Administrative service workers see similar incomes. The agriculture, accommodation, and catering sectors record the lowest salaries.

Note that the overall average salary in the Moldovan economy this year stands at 13,700 lei (about $720).
