Navalny Death: Global Call for Investigation

More than 40 countries are demanding an independent international investigation into the death of Alexei Navalny, a prominent Russian opposition leader.

The call was made by the EU ambassador to the UN during a meeting of the Human Rights Committee.

Accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of being chiefly responsible for Navalny's death, the address highlights the growing international pressure surrounding the case.

Meanwhile, a growing mountain of flowers, photos, and messages continues to appear near the entrance of Moscow's Borisov Cemetery, days after Navalny's funeral.

Navalny, a fierce critic of Putin's government, died in a Russian prison on February 16, 2024. His family and several Western leaders hold the Russian authorities responsible for his death.
