Turkish President Erdogan says March local elections will be last he gets involved in
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the March 31 local elections will be the last he gets involved in, the official Anadolu news agency reported Friday, as reported by Agerpres.
Erdogan has ruled Turkey for more than two decades and has won more than ten elections since his first, in which he emerged victorious in 2002. He was re-elected head of state in May 2023 for a five-year term in a controversial election, Reuters reports.
"This is the end point for me, according to the mandate given by law this is my last election. The result will be the transfer of a legacy to my brothers who will come after me," Anadolu quoted the president as saying.
