Moldova finds strong support in France, signs key deals

Three important documents for the Republic of Moldova were signed in Paris during President Maia Sandu's visit to the French capital.

This includes the agreement on defence cooperation, which updates a document signed in 1998. Also signed were the roadmap for economic cooperation for the next six years and an agreement through which the French Development Agency will provide our country with financing to the value of 40 million euros and a grant of 1.2 million euros for strengthening the forestry sector.

The new Moldovan-French defence cooperation agreement covers key areas such as defence policies, participation in international missions and operations, information technologies, and military telecommunications.

The 2024-2029 economic cooperation roadmap outlines joint actions to encourage increased investment and trade between the Republic of Moldova and France. Over two hundred French companies operate in the Republic of Moldova, benefiting both economies, according to a Presidency press release in Chisinau.

President Sandu highlighted the importance of the agreement by which AFD will provide our country with financing to the value of 40 million euros and a grant of 1.2 million euros for strengthening the forestry sector.

Additionally, during her working visit to France, Maia Sandu discussed the Republic of Moldova's future in the European Union, economic cooperation, and concrete initiatives to strengthen the country's security. Following discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, the head of state declared France and President Macron personally to be among the closest supporters of our country.
