Heart Emergencies Top Cause of Ambulance Calls

During the past week, the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (AMU) in Moldova was called for 14,026 patients, including 1,948 children.

Citizens with cardiovascular emergencies made the most frequent requests for an ambulance.

According to the National Center for Emergency Medical Assistance, during the last week, there were requests for ambulance assistance for 3,617 patients with cardiovascular emergencies, of which 54 with acute coronary syndrome; 2,051 were respiratory emergencies, of which 998 acute viral respiratory infections; 1,924 neurological, including 253 strokes and 1,174 traumatological.

During the mentioned period, the AMU teams intervened in 37 road accidents on the country's roads, as a result of which 43 people were injured. After receiving emergency medical care before transport to the hospital, 35 patients, including eight children, were transported to the hospital for appropriate medical care.

At the same time, the Joint Emergency Dispatch Center of the IMSP CNAMUP received 42 calls for toxic emergencies, including 15 alcohol poisonings, ten with medications, and seven with carbon monoxide. There were also 36 emergencies generated by chemical and environmental agents, including 22 combustions.
