Russia Under Fire: Drones Hit Oil Depots
Ukrainian drones and Russian volunteer forces launched attacks across seven Russian regions, with drone strikes destroying two oil depots.
Authorities reported major fires at oil depots in the cities of Oryol and Nizhny Novgorod.
Russia endured a massive drone assault last night. Explosions were heard in the Moscow, Kursk, Tula, Bryansk, and Leningrad regions. Sirens wailed in the cities of Belgorod and Voronezh. Oil depots in the Nizhny Novgorod and Oryol regions were targeted.
"A drone near my work site. Thick smoke everywhere and things are really tense," a resident remarked. A fuel and energy complex facility was also struck by a drone in the Oryol region, prompting the evacuation of nearby homes. Preliminary reports suggest the drone hit an oil tank, causing it to ignite.
The Russian Defense Ministry claims their air defence systems destroyed 23 drones. Moscow alleges that the Ukrainian armed forces fired nine missiles into the Belgorod region. While Kyiv doesn't officially confirm its involvement in the refinery strikes, it doesn't deny it either.
Concurrently, Russian partisan detachments struck in regions bordering Ukraine. These militants believe a peaceful overthrow of the dictatorial regime in Moscow is impossible and vow to take up arms against it.
"We come to free you from poverty and fear. To liberate you from the dictatorship of a terrorist organisation that seized power. We want a normal, civilised future for your children – without sanctions, repression, or rigged elections, and most importantly, without war. The Legion is coming to the polls. Wait for us," the militants declared. The Russian Volunteer Force released a video showing a nighttime battle, claiming they're fighting Russian border forces. There are unconfirmed reports of a Russian fighter jet downed in Valuiki, Belgorod region.
