Moldova Marks 32nd Anniversary of Nistru War with Educational Events
To commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the Nistru War, Moldova's Week of Memory and Gratitude highlights the importance of education. Schools organised events to raise awareness of the 1992 conflict's tragic consequences.
The Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova issued a circular encouraging the educational community to talk with war veterans to promote responsibility, compassion, and intergenerational respect. During the commemorative week, the Museum of History and Ethnography in Călărași hosted special events.
7th-grade students from the "Ion Creangă'' Gymnasium and the "Vasile Alecsandri" Theoretical High School watched documentary films such as "Two Stories for One War", "Maluri" and "Zbor", produced by journalists from the Security Zone and TeleFilm Chișinău. Students had the opportunity to engage in discussions with notable figures, including journalist and university lecturer Vitalie Guțu, and journalists Mircea Surdu, Lucia Tăut and Eugen Popovici.
Discussions led to calls for more information about the Transnistrian region in the school curriculum. For several days, history and Romanian literature lessons took place in the museum, creating a space for learning and dialogue.
Students gained a unique understanding of history, Romanian literature, and culture. The documentary film "Zbor", filmed in the Călărași district, explored the life and profound thoughts of the writer Vladimir Beșleaga, offering students a deeper appreciation for literature and philosophy.
