"I take on this candidacy representing Romania with utmost responsibility," stated Klaus Iohannis, emphasising Romania's achievements, his tenure as President, a profound comprehension of NATO's challenges, Europe's concerns, especially those of our region, and a firm commitment to NATO's core values and objectives.
This announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Romania's NATO accession. The race for the role also features Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, supported by several key NATO members including the US, UK, and France.
In his comprehensive address, President Klaus Iohannis highlighted Romania's pivotal role in ensuring regional stability and security.
