Moldova Streamlines EU Accession Process
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new mechanism for coordinating the process of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU, as well as how the negotiating team will be organised and operate.
The Government Decision establishes an updated framework for coordinating EU accession and outlines the organisation and functioning of the negotiating team.
The negotiating team will include the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration/Chief Negotiator, Deputy Chief Negotiator, Secretary General of the Government, State Secretary of the Government for European Integration, Head of the Office for European Integration, Head of the Center for Legislative Harmonization, Representative of the National Bank of Moldova, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Representative of the Ministry of Economy and Digitalization, Representative of the Ministry of Finance, Representative of the Ministry of Environment, Representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Representative of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ambassador, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, and other national experts.
According to the Government, the list may be supplemented by individuals from outside the public service, including specialists from academia and research, representatives of the business community, and civil society, who have the necessary expertise to organise and conduct negotiations with the EU.
The negotiating team will prepare and submit reports to the Government on the state of negotiations after each meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, as well as special reports upon request. At the same time, throughout all stages of the negotiations, the Parliament will be informed about the progress and evolution of the accession negotiations.
