Moldova's Economy Grows Despite Challenges
In 2023, Moldova's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) experienced a 0.7% growth compared to 2022, according to preliminary estimates released by the National Statistics Office (BNS) on Friday. The GDP value in 2023 reached 300.4 billion lei.
The following activities had a positive impact on the evolution of GDP:
- Agriculture, forestry and fishing
- Health and social assistance
- Information and communication
The following activities caused a decrease in GDP:
- Manufacturing
- Construction
- Wholesale and retail trade
- Repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles
- Transportation and storage
From the perspective of GDP usage, the positive impact on the evolution of GDP was mainly caused by net exports of goods and services (+5.8%), as a result of a 5.1% increase in the volume of exports of goods and services and a 5.1% decrease in the volume of imports of goods and services.
