NATO Supports Moldova's EU Aspirations: Geoană

Cooperation with NATO will aid Moldova in its path towards joining the European Union, as stated by Mircea Geoană, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Alliance.

He emphasised that after 30 years of partnership, NATO will continue to support Moldova, including for the security of the European continent.

"Last year, in response to Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, NATO allies agreed on a significant package of additional support to strengthen Moldova's cyber defence, strategic communications, and logistics readiness. Furthermore, at our Summit in Vilnius last July, NATO leaders committed to further intensifying practical and political support in Moldova. All allies endorse the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, and our collaboration will facilitate your journey to joining the European Union. After 30 years, our partnership remains increasingly robust," the NATO official emphasised.

Mircea Geoană also pointed out that NATO fully respects the constitutional neutrality of the Republic of Moldova; however, this does not impede the development of the partnership.

The conference commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Republic of Moldova's signing of the Framework Document of the "Partnership for Peace" Program was held at the Agency for Science and Military History.
