US Embassy Condemns Russia's Unilateral Polling Stations in Moldova
The Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova strongly condemns Russia's unilateral decision to establish polling stations for the presidential elections within the Transnistrian region without the consent of the Moldovan government.
According to an official press release, this action serves as yet another instance of the Kremlin's disregard for Moldova's neutrality, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Additionally, authorities in Chisinau have voiced their condemnation of this action and have urged the international community to uphold a rules-based order and denounce Russia's actions.
It is noteworthy that while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs permitted the opening of a single polling station for the Russian presidential elections, specifically within the premises of the Russian Federation Embassy in Chisinau, Moscow authorised the establishment of six polling stations in the Transnistrian region.
The presidential elections in Russia commenced on March 15 and conclude today, marking the first presidential elections since the onset of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
