President Maia Sandu participates in the World Economic Forum

The global economic slowdown, environmental challenges, but also the war in Ukraine, in a context of multiple crises and geopolitical changes, are some of the topics on the agenda of the World Economic Forum in Davos, whose annual meeting takes place between 16-20 January, informs Digi24.

This year there is a record participation, especially of representatives of the business environment, but also of political leaders. Among them is the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

This year's summit returns to the traditional format, the one with physical presence. According to international media, fewer political leaders announced their presence this year.

We remind that the annual meeting in the Swiss resort of Davos, which is in its 53rd edition, brings together state, business and civil society leaders to address the state of the world and to discuss the year's priorities. The event provides a platform for engaging in constructive, forward-looking dialogues and helping to find solutions through public-private cooperation.

The World Economic Forum publishes a Global Risks Report before each annual meeting in January to identify and analyze critical global risks. The cost of living crisis, a consequence of inflation, aggravated by the war in Ukraine and the reopening of the economy after the COVID pandemic, represents the biggest global risk for the next two years, according to the study published on January 11, 2023 by the World Economic Forum.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova participated for the first time at the World Economic Forum in Davos, in 2019, being represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, at that time, Tudor Ulianovschi.

This year, the country's president Maia Sandu is participating in the Davos Summit, the press service of the presidency told Radio Moldova.
