Republic of Moldova and North Carolina signed a memorandum to strengthen bilateral relations

The Republic of Moldova and the American state of North Carolina signed on Tuesday, March 19, in Chisinau a memorandum to strengthen bilateral relations. During the 25 years of cooperation, through the partnership our country has benefited from multiple educational and humanitarian projects, as well as assistance in the reform of the defense sector.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted the fruitful collaboration with the United States of America on various dimensions, especially in the security, defense and humanitarian fields. The Prime Minister from Chisinau emphasized that thanks to the cooperation with the Honor Guard of North Carolina, the Republic of Moldova obtained assistance in reforming the defense sector, training the Moldovan military and equipping it.

"During the 25 years of partnership with North Carolina, multiple actions and projects have been carried out and continue to be carried out in the educational field of academic and university changes, in the field of defense and security. Thanks to the partnership program with the National Guard of North Carolina, our country benefited from US assistance in defense reform and the training of the Moldovan military in specialized institutions in the US, as well as the exchange of experience. It is a support with a direct beneficial impact on our citizens, in particular children, students, socially vulnerable categories for which we remain grateful to our friends from North Carolina", said Dorin Recean.

This bilateral partnership is increasingly important in the conditions of a war launched by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, with an impact also on the Republic of Moldova, said the Secretary of State of North Carolina, Elaine Marshall.

"This partnership has an extraordinary impact on the objective of the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union by 2030, and we will do our best to ensure that you will be successful in creating a more prosperous, more safe and more developed country," noted Elaine Marshall.

We remind that, since the initiation of the partnership with the state of North Carolina in 1999 and until now, six documents have been signed regarding the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
