EU will continue to support the Republic of Moldova in addressing the challenges it faces as a result of Russia's aggression in Ukraine

The European Union will continue to provide all relevant support to the Republic of Moldova in addressing the challenges it faces as a result of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, and the EU leaders requested, on Thursday, that the negotiation framework be "quickly" adopted, a step forward on the road to accession to the European Union, writes news.ro.

The European Union will continue to strengthen the country's resilience, security and stability in the face of Russia's destabilizing activities, according to the document presenting the conclusions of Thursday's meeting of European leaders.

The European Council also welcomes the bilateral commitments of the member states to support the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova, to increase the resilience of the security sector.

On the other hand, the European Council welcomes the progress made by Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in advancing the necessary reforms on their way to the EU. As a result of the presentation of the negotiation framework projects for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the European Council invites their rapid adoption and the advancement of the steps without delay. At their summit in December 2023, EU leaders gave the green light to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, after these countries have taken the relevant steps set out in the Commission's report on enlargement of 8 November 2023.
