Gherasimov: The Republic of Moldova-EU intergovernmental conference could take place by the end of June
The intergovernmental conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which could take place until the end of June, will provide our country with the necessary framework for starting accession negotiations on each separate chapter, according to the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov. According to her, currently there is a full openness on the part of the European countries to act in an accelerated manner in opening the next stages of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
"In the discussions we had in Brussels, there is an assumption that this conference will take place both for us and for Ukraine immediately after the European Parliament elections take place. But, before we go to the opening of one chapter or another, we must first continue with the screening stage, then the next stage follows, we present our national legislation and what are the differences between our legislation and the European one", said the chief negotiator for Integration European.
Cristina Gherasimov noted that for hosting this conference it does not matter what will be the new composition of the European Commission, which will be formed after the European elections in June.
We remind that in mid-December last year, the European Council decided to start accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova, and the official start could be given after the completion of the legislative screening process, which began in February.
