Putin: Those responsible will be punished. March 24, national day of mourning
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the nation on Saturday and announced that all those guilty would be punished. He also declared March 24 a national day mourning.
Vladimir Putin said the attackers were trying to flee to Ukraine, and security had been beefed up in response. According to Putin, all the attackers have been found and are now detained.
He announced a day of mourning for March 24.
"All those responsible will be punished", adds the president.
We note that the statement of the Russian president comes in the context in which the toll of the victims of the attack continues to grow. The latest figures show that at least 143 people have died.
Kiev has denied any connection to Friday's deadly attack near Moscow.
"We expected the Russian officials' version to be the 'Ukrainian track,'" Ukrainian presidential adviser Mihailo Podoliak wrote on the X social network. "The statements of the Russian special services regarding Ukraine are absolutely inconceivable and absurd. Ukraine has nothing to do with the incident," he said.
