During his visit to Cayenne on Monday, President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the Islamic State Khorasan group (ISIS-K), which claimed responsibility for Friday's attack in Moscow resulting in 137 deaths, had attempted several attacks in France as well, as reported by news.ro.

The branch of the Islamic State involved had made "multiple attempts" on French territory, stated the President upon his arrival in French Guiana.

Macron indicated that as a result, France's Vigipirate plan, which pertains to the level of terrorist alert, has been elevated to its maximum level, emergency attack, across the French territory.

"We must guard against any exploitation," Emmanuel Macron further remarked regarding the Moscow attack, undoubtedly referring to the Kremlin's inclination to blame Ukraine.

"I have proposed increased cooperation to the Russian services and our partners in the region," the French President also stated. "We must avoid any exploitation or distortion, but we must be demanding and efficient. That is the approach we are taking, and I trust Russia will do the same," he added in comments to the press at the airport.
