Government approved the "European Village" Program for 2024-2028
The "European Village" national local development program for 2024-2028 was approved by the Executive. According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the costs of implementing the program are estimated at over 5.3 billion lei, of which over 2.5 billion lei will be provided from the state budget, through the National Regional and Local Development Fund.
Thus, the project provides that, by 2028, approximately 200 thousand inhabitants will have access to the aqueduct network and 37 thousand people will be connected to the sewage network. Also, 250 thousand people from 100 localities are to benefit from improved public lighting system.
The program aims that, over four years, in at least 250 localities, public buildings will be renovated or rehabilitated, 375 thousand inhabitants will benefit from modern sports halls and fields, and 250 thousand inhabitants - from improved infrastructure. Also, in at least 65 localities, the share of renewable energy in the total energy consumed will increase.
Also, 400 employees of local public authorities will have strengthened capacities in the writing, management, monitoring and evaluation of investment projects. "The purpose of the program is to improve living conditions, to increase investment attractiveness and to ensure a sustainable development of the localities of the Republic of Moldova. We will do this by boosting the pace of equipping the administrative-territorial units with all the necessary infrastructure", Minister Andrei Spînu said at the Government meeting.
We remind you that the "European Village" National Program was launched at the end of March 2022, and in 2023 - the "Express European Village". Through it, more than 700 projects for the modernization of localities in the Republic of Moldova were implemented. Most of them relate to the water supply and sewage systems, street lighting, the renovation of culture houses, sports fields and kindergartens.
