The leadership of the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine - among the victims of the plane crash in Brovari. The authorities announce that the death toll stands at 16 dead
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the First Deputy Minister and the State Secretary of the institution died in the plane crash in Brovari, Ukraine. According to Unian, at least 16 people, including two children, lost their lives as a result of the tragic incident.
"This morning, January 18, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service crashed in Brovari. As a result of a plane crash, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs died: the minister, the first deputy minister and the secretary of state", said the head of the National Police Igor Klymenko, quoted by Unian.
According to Klymenko, the current death toll stands at 16 dead, including two children. He stated that there were nine people on board the helicopter.
"22 victims are in the hospital, including ten children. All relevant and specialised services work on site. The scene of the incident is being examined," the police chief also said.
A helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and residential buildings in the Ukrainian city of Brovari, in the Kyiv region. For now, the causes of the plane crash are not known.
