Explosions Near Moldovan Border; No Russian Rocket Activity Confirmed
No Russian drone violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova last night, as reported by the Border Police following the emergence of several reports in the press.
Law enforcement officials stated that patrols from Ocnița, Otaci, Cosăuți, and Soroca heard explosions in the territory of Ukraine around 05:40 on the morning of March 29, according to an official statement.
An informational note clarified the absence of Russian rockets flying over Moldovan airspace last night. It emphasised that all surveillance and monitoring systems failed to detect any unauthorised entry, a fact corroborated by Ukrainian authorities.
Instances of drone or rocket fragments being discovered on Moldova's territory have occurred since the onset of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. This has resulted in the initiation of criminal cases.
Recently, remnants of a "Shahed" drone were found on February 11 in the vicinity of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, near the village of Etulia in the Vulcănești district. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of a payload containing approximately 50 kg of explosive substance, which was safely detonated thereafter.
The authorities in Chișinău have repeatedly denounced Russia's unjustified attacks on Ukraine, citing their detrimental effects on the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi have affirmed that investigations into these incidents are ongoing, with detailed information forthcoming.
