Alonso Stays: Leverkusen Coach Rejects Liverpool, Bayern
Xabi Alonso has dispelled all speculation! The Bayer Leverkusen coach has formally announced his decision to remain at the club beyond the conclusion of the current competitive season.
The international sports press had repeatedly reported in recent times that the Spanish coach could depart in the summer, potentially for FC Liverpool or Bayern Munich.
"I wanted to use the break for national team matches to carefully consider my options and reach a decision. I held a productive meeting with the club's leadership and informed them of my intention to remain as coach of Bayer Leverkusen from the summer onward," Alonso stated.
Xabi Alonso expresses his desire to continue his development alongside the team, with the goal of securing a Champions League berth for the following season.
"I firmly believe this remains the optimal environment for me to grow as a coach. I am a young coach and extend my gratitude to the club's management and the unwavering support of the fans," said the Spanish coach.
Bayer Leverkusen is experiencing a truly remarkable season. "The Aspirins" currently hold the top position in the German Bundesliga, boasting a 10-point lead over second-placed Bayern Munich with only 8 matches remaining. Bayer will contest Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German Cup semi-finals and face London's West Ham United in the Europa League quarter-finals. Notably, Bayer remains an undefeated team this season.
