War in Ukraine: Infrastructure in central Poltava region targeted by Russian drones and missiles

Russian forces attacked infrastructure in the Poltava region in central Ukraine during the night, the Ukrainian military administration announced on Saturday, informs dpa, cited by Agerpres.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it had intercepted 9 of the 12 drones launched by the Russians.

Apart from drones, Russian forces have also launched S-300 and S-400 missiles. Both types of missile were designed as anti-tank missiles but were converted to hit surface targets.

So far, no human casualties have been announced.

During the winter months, Russian forces began to focus on attacks on Ukraine's energy and heating infrastructure, as they did last year.

The city of Kharkiv, near the border with Russia in the northeast, has experienced repeated blackouts. On Saturday, the Ukrainian state company Centrenergo announced that a power and thermal plant was heavily damaged in an attack on March 22.
