That same day, two additional individuals in the Criuleni district sustained burns following a separate gas cylinder explosion. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has released this information.

In Cajba, initial reports indicate a house fire allegedly triggered by an explosion resulting from a gas leak. The cylinder was connected to a kitchen stove.

"A crew of rescuers and firefighters was dispatched to the scene and succeeded in containing the blaze at 04:48, with complete extinguishment at 06:40. The fire resulted in first-degree burns to the head and right upper limb of the homeowner, an 84-year-old woman. She was transported to the district hospital for urgent medical attention. Additionally, the fire caused damage to various belongings within the residence and partial destruction of the roof," IGSU states.

The second case occurred in the village of Hîrtopul Mare, Criuleni district. A gas cylinder explosion ignited a fire, causing first, second, and third-degree burns to two women, aged 90 and 57.

"Both individuals were immediately transported to the Clinical Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics in the municipality of Chisinau. Their condition is currently reported as serious but stable. During the response, IGSU personnel removed two additional gas cylinders from the shed where the fire occurred," the statement continues.

Investigations into the specific circumstances surrounding both fires are underway.

In light of these incidents, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations reiterates the dangers associated with using propane gas cylinders within homes. Authorities strongly advise against the use and refilling of such cylinders. Furthermore, the use of defective cylinders or hoses is strictly prohibited. Should individuals opt to use gas cylinders, they must be positioned in metal boxes outside the dwelling, with a minimum distance of 5 metres from entrances. Reserve cylinders must be stored exclusively outdoors, away from enclosed spaces.
