Devastating Attack: Poltava Region Hit by Missile Strike & Drones
The region of Poltava endured a targeted strike by a cruise missile alongside multiple attack drones, once again aiming at civilian infrastructure.
Numerous residential buildings lay in ruins, among them a block housing over 30 apartments. Tragically, at least one individual lost their life, while another 16 sustained injuries, including four children aged between 5 and 11.
A two-story residential building bore the brunt of the missile's impact, causing damage to three neighbouring structures. The force of the blast wave shattered windows, sending glass fragments in every direction.
Residents recounted harrowing experiences, with Victoria Strona noting, "The house burned, people burned too. It caught fire, and the windows shattered. And in our house, all the windows were shattered by the splinters." Another resident, Nadia Strona, described the terror of the explosion, which flung her phone and disrupted her niece's sleep.
In the aftermath, over 9,000 residential consumers and 120 legal entities in Poltava and Sherbanivska found themselves without power, though within a few hours, power engineers managed to restore electricity. Furthermore, the Russian military targeted seven settlements in the Donetsk region with guided aerial bombs, missiles, and artillery strikes, resulting in casualties and widespread destruction.
Despite Ukrainian air forces claiming to have successfully intercepted all 20 Shahed drones launched by the invaders, four S-300 missiles found their intended targets, underscoring the ongoing threat and devastation wrought by the conflict.
