Diana Cazacu's Fight: Fabricated Charges and Political Ordeal Revealed

Customs inspector Diana Cazacu, who is under investigation for alleged bribery at the Chișinău International Airport, asserted during a press briefing that the case against her had been concocted.

She emphasised that her family, including her mother, Deputy Victoria Cazacu, who was expelled from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) in the wake of this scandal, is enduring a politically motivated ordeal.

Cazacu maintained that despite the recent raids at the airport, there exists insufficient evidence to substantiate her culpability. "Following the searches conducted a week ago, I am classified as a suspect due to the lack of substantial evidence to elevate my status to that of an accused," she declared. "I am fully cooperative with law enforcement and remain confident that I will demonstrate my integrity and adherence to the law."

In response to Cazacu's assertions, Adriana Vlas, an advisor to the PAS parliamentary faction, commented on the necessity of Victoria Cazacu's resignation in light of the circumstances. Vlas emphasised that such cases undermine the government's anti-corruption efforts.

Following the airport raids on April 1st, President of the Parliament Igor Grosu disclosed that Victoria Cazacu's daughter was among the targeted customs officers and urged her to resign. Subsequently, she was expelled from the political party. Despite this, Victoria Cazacu reaffirmed her determination not to relinquish her legislative mandate.
