Russian Missile Kills 4 in Odessa, Child Among Victims
A Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile struck the Odessa region on April 10, 2024, killing four people, including a 10-year-old girl.
This was confirmed by Oleg Kiper, head of the Odessa Regional State Administration.
"This Russian missile attack has tragically claimed the lives of four people here in Odessa, among them a young child," Kiper stated. "Seven others have been injured, with one man's condition critical after the amputation of his lower limbs. Our medical teams are working tirelessly to provide aid."
According to Kiper, the strike took place between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time, causing damage to transportation infrastructure and nearby vehicles.
This attack follows an earlier Russian strike on April 10, 2024, targeting energy and transportation infrastructure in the Odessa region. That earlier assault resulted in two injuries. An energy facility in the neighbouring Nikolaev region was also targeted.
In response, the U.S. State Department has authorised $138 million in emergency military sales to Ukraine. This includes supplies for the maintenance and modernization of Ukraine's HAWK air defence systems, helping to keep these vital missile systems operational.
