EU has allocated 2 million euros for the reform of the key institutions that regulate the labor market in the Republic of Moldova
The European Union supports a more inclusive labor market in the Republic of Moldova. In this regard, a project was launched in Chisinau which involves ensuring access to diverse and attractive employment opportunities. One of the objectives of the project is to increase the performance of the National Employment Agency.
"Creating jobs is an important thing and, secondly, we are talking about good policies for the labor market and, together with the IOM, we are now dealing with precisely that, the modernization of the country's employment service, which is a very important instrument of good policies for the labor market, so that we can bring people into the labor market and also be close to the needs of the labor market", said the European Commissioner for Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit.
"*All our programs are aligned with the efforts undertaken by the Republic of Moldova in the context of chapter 19 of the negotiations, which will begin very soon, regarding the accession to the EU. It is one of the reasons why we decided to have this joint mission, which, in itself, must be seen as a very strong signal", said the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo.
The project comes to reform the key institutions that regulate the labor market.
"Even though we are at the beginning of the reform process, we are already seeing the first results. In 2023, ANOFM helped more than 11 thousand citizens find a job, this is a performance 34% more than in 2022", said the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu.
The project "EU support for a more inclusive labor market in the Republic of Moldova" will be implemented in the next two years by the International Labor Organization. For this purpose, the European Union has allocated two million euros.
