Extradition of persons announced as wanted internationally discussed by Sergiu Litvinenco with his colleagues in Germany

The situation regarding the extradition to the Republic of Moldova of the persons announced as internationally wanted by the country's authorities was discussed at the meeting of the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, with the delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German delegation included representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Justice, the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the German Embassy in Chisinau and the German Embassy in Bucharest.

"The subject of extradition is a field of particular interest for us, considering the fight against corruption and the situations in which some Moldovan citizens who have harmed the Republic of Moldova and have problems with justice can evade criminal responsibility, being on the territory of the Federal Republic Germany," said Sergiu Litvinenco.

For their part, the members of the German delegation mentioned that the German Embassy, but also the Federal Government, understand the importance of the subject of extradition not only from the point of view of reciprocity, but also from the perspective of bilateral cooperation in terms of supporting activities to fight corruption and crime.

In the discussions, the parties established the orientation lines and institutional connections between the counterpart authorities. Also, the issues related to ensuring detention conditions in the Republic of Moldova according to international standards and offering extradition guarantees for persons in the custody of the German state were reviewed.
