CSJ decision: Igor Dodon is free to leave the country

Former state president Igor Dodon is free to leave the country's borders, between January 28 and February 5. During today's session, the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice accepted the lawyers' request that the politician accompany his youngest son to Romania, for a post-COVID rehabilitation treatment.

Prosecutor Petru Iarmaliuc was categorically against it and requested to hear the doctor who drew up the documents, arguing that any other authorised person could go and not necessarily Igor Dodon.

The court rejected the prosecutor's request and accepted the lawyers' request.

The former head of state is targeted in the so-called "black bag" file. Igor Dodon is accused of claiming almost one million dollars from Vladimir Plahotniuc and Serghei Iaralov in order to conduct negotiations with the Russian Federation, and in the "Energocom" file, he is accused of exceeding his duties. On November 18, 2022, Dodon was placed under judicial control for 60 days, banned from leaving the country.
