Romania remains the main export partner of the Republic of Moldova
In the first two months of this year, the Republic of Moldova exported goods worth over 600 million dollars, by 12 percent less compared to the same period last year. The data show that the European Union is still the main economic partner of our country.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, products worth 402 million dollars arrived in the European Union, by over six percent less than in January-February last year.
Exports to the CIS states decreased by almost a third, amounting to almost 42 million dollars.
The main sales market remains Romania, where we exported more than 32 percent of the total volume of goods. Ukraine follows with seven and a half percent. Germany, Turkey and Italy are also among the main destinations.
The statistical data also show that in the first two months of the year we imported products worth almost one billion 400 million dollars. From the European Union, we bought $650 million worth of goods, down by nine percent.
Also, imports from the CIS countries decreased significantly. This is a decrease of more than 68 percent, and the amount of products was 52 million dollars.
