Moldova: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Expected This Week
Meteorologists in Moldova have issued a yellow warning for a significant weather change expected to hit the country from Wednesday, April 17, to Thursday, April 18.
During this period, residents can expect heavy rain, possibly accompanied by lightning and strong winds. Additionally, the average daily air temperature will decrease by 5-10 degrees Celsius.
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) attributes the weather change to a cyclone moving near the Republic of Moldova.
"Rain is expected, particularly heavy (15-45 l/m2) in the northern and central regions on Wednesday during the day, with isolated showers possible in the south accompanied by lightning. The wind will intensify, especially in the southeastern regions on April 17, and in isolated areas throughout the country on April 18, reaching speeds of up to 15-18 m/s," the SHS reported.
In the northern part of the country, meteorologists predict highs of up to 15 degrees Celsius during the day. Overnight, the air temperature will drop to 10 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures in the central regions and the capital, Chișinău, are expected to reach up to 16 degrees Celsius during the day. At night, the temperature will not exceed 15 degrees Celsius.
In the south, the maximum daytime temperature will be 22 degrees Celsius. At night, the temperature will drop to a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius.
