Eurovision 2024: Shakeup for Grand Final Running Order
Eurovision Song Contest organisers unveiled changes to how finalist countries will determine their performance order in the Grand Final for the 2024 competition in Malmö, Sweden.
Previously, countries that qualified for the Grand Final drew for a slot in either the first half (songs 1-13) or the second half (songs 14-26) of the final. Show producers then decided the specific performance number within each half.
This year, a new "Producer's Choice" category will be introduced for the draw.
Swedish broadcaster SVT explained that 25 of the 26 Grand Final countries (Sweden, the host country, has already drawn position 1) can choose first half, second half, or Producer's Choice in the running order draw.
With "Producer's Choice," show producers can place the song anywhere in the first or second half of the May 11 final.
Therefore, there will be 6 slots for the first half, 6 slots for the second half, and 13 Producer's Choice slots available in the draw.
The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden, from May 7-11. The first semi-final will be held on Tuesday, May 7, and the second on Thursday, May 9. The Grand Final will take place on Saturday, May 11.
