Moldova's Eurovision Star Barbu Holds Pre-Contest Press Conference
Moldovan singer Natalia Barbu and representatives from Teleradio-Moldova will hold a press conference on Thursday, April 18, to discuss her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.
The event will commence at 2:00 PM in Studio 1 of Moldova 1, the Moldovan Public Television channel, located at 64 Hâncești Street. Eurovision partners PortMall and MAIB will also be in attendance. All journalists are welcome.
Barbu, Moldova's representative at Eurovision Song Contest 2024, will perform in the first semi-final on May 7 in the Swedish capital. She will be taking the stage as the eleventh contestant and will perform her song "In the middle," which was selected as the winner by the jury after accumulating a total of 60 points. The public vote garnered an additional 2,421 votes for Barbu.
This marks Barbu's second time representing Moldova at Eurovision. Her previous performance in 2007 with the song "Fight" secured her 10th place.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held in Malmö, Sweden, following last year's victory by Swedish singer Loreen. This win makes Loreen the first woman in Eurovision history to achieve double victories, having also won in 2012 with the song "Euphoria."
Moldova first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, represented by the band Zdob și Zdub with their song "Boonika bate toba," which achieved an impressive 6th place finish. Since then, Moldova has reached the Grand Final eleven times, achieving its best result to date in 2017 when the band SunStroke Project placed third.
