Scandal at Chisinau International Airport: Passengers returning from Moscow "tried to avoid customs control"

They tried to avoid customs control at the Airport by shouting insulting words at customs officials and border police. It is about several passengers, who returned last night from Moscow, where they participated in the so-called Congress for the creation of the Victoria block. The security services at the Airport claim that in this way disruptions were created in the process of crossing the state border.

Several passengers who returned yesterday evening from Moscow, where they participated on Sunday in the so-called Victoria Block Creation Congress, complained that they were kept at the airport for no reason. Footage from the scene, posted on social media, showed that while some passengers were unhappy with the work of border guards and alleged technical problems, others said they passed through customs without a problem.

VOX: “Were there thorough checks? - No, there weren't. Everything is alright. - Were you questioned? - No, I was not. - Was the verification system working? - Yes of course".

Both the Border Police and the Customs Service issued statements stating that the passengers were asked to check their luggage at customs, at which point they resisted and aggressively tried to evade the check, insulting and provoking customs officers and police officers.

"In relation to the situation created, on the evening of April 22, 2024, at the Chisinau International Airport, we state that actions were carried out in accordance with the duties of the service. According to the legal procedures, the passengers were asked to check their luggage at the customs control, at which time they showed opposition and aggressively tried to evade the control, addressing insulting and provocative words to the customs officials and the border police. The measure was taken to remove them in order to maintain public order in the baggage control area of the Airport. In the same way, the resistance shown caused disturbances in the process of crossing the state border, generating agglomeration in other flights arriving in the Republic of Moldova", informs the Border Police.

In the press release issued, the Border Police and the Customs Service urge travelers to respect public order in airport procedures.
