"Every year we mark the national flag day with the greeting: Honor to the tricolor. A wish that not only celebrates our flag, but also represents a call to contemplation, how we honor this symbol of our state in our daily life, which is a window both to the past and to the future, how we show our respect to the flag that it serves as an anchor and benchmark, reminding us that together we can overcome any obstacle. The answer is simple: to respond not just once a year, but every day to the call to unity, solidarity and hope, which is reflected in the three colors of our flag. Let us be kind and generous to each other, regardless of the language we speak or our beliefs, regardless of whether we are from the north, south or center, let us respect and honor the memory of our forefathers, those who fought for the tricolor to flutter throughout the territory of our country", declared Maia Sandu.

The president also emphasized that in these "troubled times", it is essential that we all defend our sovereignty and our right to "shape our own destiny" and not to forget that the desire for freedom and understanding, the love for our land, and the respect for our culture and traditions are essential elements of our national identity.
