Daria Cozorez wins the gold medal at the competition in Belgrade
Extraordinary performance for Moldovan sport! Daria Cozorez became European boxing champion. The Moldovan won her continental title in the capital of Serbia, in Belgrade. Daria defeated Kristina Tkaciova of the Russian Federation in the heavyweight final.
Cozorez became the first athlete from the Republic of Moldova to win the gold medal at the European Championships for senior women.
Cozorez is not the only representative of our country who qualified in a final at the European Championships in Belgrade. Alexandru Paraschiv will also fight for the gold medal in his weight category of up to 63.5 kilograms.
The Moldovan will duel with the representative of the Russian Federation, Gabil Mamedov. The grand final is scheduled for Sunday evening.
Earlier, another Moldovan boxer, Vasile Cebotari, was defeated in the semi-finals of the weight category up to 71 kilograms, but secured the bronze medal at the continental competition.
