Attempted smuggling of car parts from the EU and UK worth six million lei: four men, criminally investigated
Four men between aged between 34 and 49 are under criminal investigation in a case of smuggling auto parts from the European Union and Great Britain, worth about six million lei. According to the Border Police, the imposing quantities were picked up as a result of more than 10 searches carried out in Anenii Noi, Chisinau, Criuleni, Orhei and Ungheni.
Thus, the law enforcement officers seized more than 100 injectors, dozens of engines and gearboxes, electric batteries, pressure ramps and car accessories.
Also, 20 technical passports of cars from Great Britain, registers, data on bank transfers presumably related to the crime under investigation, but also two agendas with the list of car parts brought to Moldova, outside customs control, were seized. Their goal was to later sell them at disassembly stations.
The cited source states that regarding a suspect, the PCCOCS prosecutors sent for examination to the Chisinau Court based in Buiucani, a criminal case publicly announced in July 2023 - smuggling of three cars stolen from EU states and imported from Lithuania to Moldova, worth over one million of lions.
Investigations continue, during which the persons benefit from the presumption of innocence, according to the law.
