Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov is making a working visit to Hungary and Austria, between May 6-7. According to the agenda, the chief negotiator of the Republic of Moldova will discuss with Hungarian officials the priorities on our country's European agenda in the context of Hungary taking over, on July 1, 2024, the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On May 7, the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the steps taken to become members of the EU will be discussed at the meetings of the Government and the Parliament of Austria.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration from Chisinau will speak about our European aspirations in the opening of the event "Europe Day 2024. The success story of enlargement - connecting the past and the future".
We remind you that the Republic of Moldova submitted an application to join the European Union in March 2022 and was granted the status of a candidate country in June 2022. In December 2023, the leaders of the community space decided to open accession negotiations.
