National Army soldiers could be deployed to Somalia

Two National Army soldiers could be deployed to the European Union's training mission in Somalia. A draft decision in this sense was submitted to public consultations.

The military will only be selected if they voluntarily decide to leave and will be there for a period of six months to a year. The Ministry of Defense from Chisinau will offer them a per diem of 80 dollars.

Previously, the responsible authorities proposed that another 32 Moldovan soldiers participate in the European Union's military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Then, the Ministry of Defense announced that more than 11 million lei were needed and that 60 percent of the expenses would be covered by Romania.

Currently, the Republic of Moldova participates in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Lebanon.
