We remind that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is expected on Wednesday, May 29, in Chisinau, where he will have talks with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. This important visit comes to reconfirm the strategic character of the Moldovan-American bilateral dialogue, said the spokesperson of the Government, Daniel Vodă.

Earlier, the US State Department announced that Antony Blinken would announce new US aid that would support Moldova's energy independence and strengthen the country's democracy in the face of Russian threats.

We remind that this will be the second visit of the head of American diplomacy to Chisinau, after the one in March 2022. At that time, the American official was in our country for two days and met with President Maia Sandu, former Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, the US increased financial support for the Republic of Moldova and sanctioned Moldovan oligarchs who allegedly planned to destabilize the country.
