Recean urges citizens to participate in the European elections and vote for the parties that support the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU
Prime Minister Dorin Recean urges the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the country, but also abroad, to participate in the European parliamentary elections in June and vote for the parties that support the expansion of the European Union and the European path of the Republic of Moldova. The Prime Minister declared, at the beginning of the Government meeting on May 29, that Moldovans must get used to participating in the European Parliament.
"We know that on June 6, 7, 8 and 9 we have the parliamentary elections. I want to urge and ask all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the country and abroad to go to these European parliamentary elections. It is very important to vote for parties from families that support the expansion of Europe and support the European path of the Republic of Moldova. (…) I want to draw attention to the fact that we must get used to participating in parliamentary elections. I am firmly convinced that sooner rather than later, all citizens of the Republic of Moldova will participate in such an exercise," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
Almost one million Moldovans, who hold Romanian citizenship, will have the opportunity to directly influence the decisions of the European Union (EU). They are expected on June 9 to elect the MEPs from Romania, at 52 polling stations in the Republic of Moldova.
The most polling stations, 13, will be opened in Chisinau. Their number has increased significantly compared to 2020, when 36 were opened in the Republic of Moldova.
"This growth was based primarily on citizens' interest in expressing their right to vote. We are waiting for everyone at the vote on June 9, because they will vote for Romania's MEPs, who in Brussels will make decisions for and about the Republic of Moldova. The participation of Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova is extremely important, first of all for the future of the Republic of Moldova", recently declared the ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu. Romania will be represented in the European Parliament by 33 deputies out of 720.
