Urgent Call: Moldovan Citizens Urged to Vote in European Parliament Elections
The Minister of Foreign Affairs (MAE) urges citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who hold European citizenship, to participate in the upcoming European Parliament elections scheduled for June 9.
The head of diplomacy in Chișinău argues that the Republic of Moldova will demonstrate its European identity and its rightful place in the European Union through a significant presence at the polling stations.
Minister Mihai Popșoi has extended invitations to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova who hold citizenship in Romania, Bulgaria, France, Poland, Latvia, Hungary, and other member states of the European Union to vote on June 9 for the European Parliament elections at the polling stations opened in our country.
The official reiterated that several polling stations have been opened for citizens of Romania and Bulgaria, while citizens of other countries will vote at diplomatic missions in the Republic of Moldova.
"By our significant presence, we demonstrate our European identity and advocate for our integration into the EU, thereby contributing to our European development. Participation in these elections is crucial to ensure that our voice is heard in the European Union and to bring the Republic of Moldova closer to the EU," wrote Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi on social media.
Nearly one million Moldovans, including those holding European citizenship, will have the opportunity to directly influence the decisions of the European Union (EU).
They are expected to choose MEPs on behalf of Romania on June 9 at 52 polling stations in the Republic of Moldova.
The majority of polling stations, 13, will be open in Chișinău, marking a significant increase compared to 2020 when 36 were opened in the Republic of Moldova.
Romania will be represented in the European Parliament by 33 out of 720 deputies.
