President Maia Sandu talked with the US ambassador, Kent Logsdon, about the situation in the Republic of Moldova and the region

The current situation in the Republic of Moldova and in the region, as well as the relations between the two countries, were discussed today, January 23, by the president of the country, Maia Sandu, and the ambassador of the United States of America in Chisinau, E.S. Kent Logsdon.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the head of state appreciated the "very good" bilateral relations and mentioned the importance of cooperation in several fields, especially energy.

President Maia Sandu thanked for the assistance that the United States has given to the Republic of Moldova over the years and for the budget support recently offered to the Republic of Moldova, in the amount of $30 million - funds intended for overcoming the energy crisis, compensating the bills citizens and the support of economic agents.

Moldova 1 reminds its viewers that USAID announced, at the beginning of January, that the USA would provide the Republic of Moldova with direct budget support in the amount of $30 million, for the consolidation of the energy sector. The decision was welcomed by the head of state, who mentioned that thanks to the support of the United States, "the Republic of Moldova will get through this winter "easier".

Since 1992, the American people have invested more than $640 million in our country through USAID's assistance programs to strengthen democratic governance and economic growth, and to improve education and health care outcomes, as well as to address urgent humanitarian needs, including the needs of refugees from Ukraine.
