Moldova Digitizes: EVO App & Public Service Transformation

Moldovan IT companies are poised to exchange experiences and technologies with their counterparts from the United Arab Emirates during the Moldova Digital 2024 Summit.

Kicking off on Thursday, the summit will see the signing of a memorandum between Moldova and one of the UAE's largest innovation and research parks. Over 4,000 international guests and digitalization experts will convene at the event.

A key highlight of the summit will be the official launch of the free digital application, EVO. This innovative app will integrate all available public services, allowing citizens to seamlessly utilise electronic documents. Currently, Moldova has digitised approximately 60% of its public services, with the ambitious goal of achieving complete digitalization in the coming years.

"A fully digital system for interactions between the state, businesses, and citizens is essential," stressed Cătălina Plinschii, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Digitalization. "This will lead to significant reductions in corruption and increased government transparency. Estonia serves as a prime example in this regard, and we are inspired by their success in digital transformation."

Summit attendees will have the opportunity to obtain free electronic signatures and learn about the upcoming launch of QR code payments in Moldova. Additionally, Moldovan entrepreneurs are expected to forge partnerships with key international players in the digitalization sphere.

"This summit presents a prime business opportunity," stated Marina Bzovîi, Administrator of Moldova IT Park. "Our international invitees are eager to connect with local companies. We have designated spaces specifically for companies to meet, network, and register for potential collaborations."

Moldova boasts a thriving IT industry, with a staggering 89% of its IT services exported, generating a revenue of 13 billion lei. The Moldova Digital Summit 2024, held in the capital city from June 6-8, is organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization in partnership with the National Association of ICT Companies. The summit will feature over 50 international speakers and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge IT innovations.
