Moldova's National Football Triumph: Victory Against Cyprus and Coach's Call for Maturity
The national football team of the Republic of Moldova secured a 3-2 victory against the Cyprus national team after trailing until the 71st minute.
Moldovan players expressed satisfaction with the outcome, while coach Serghei Cleșcenco emphasised his disappointment with the team's performance at the start of the second half, during which they inexplicably conceded two goals in a span of just two minutes.
"To be honest, this goal holds significant personal importance for me. It has been quite some time since my last goal. I am delighted to have scored for the national team," stated footballer Nichita Moțpan.
"Of course, I felt compelled to assist the team and, why not, even score. And so I did," remarked footballer Victor Stînă.
"I didn't even have time to think about it, but with my first touch of the ball, I found the net, contributing to the team's success. Just yesterday, I envisioned a draw and myself on the field scoring the winning goal. It turned out exactly as I had imagined," reflected Victor Bogaciuc.
Moments before the decisive goal, the national team's top scorer, Ion Nicolaescu, was substituted, displaying evident dissatisfaction. However, shortly thereafter, our team secured the winning goal.
"I appeared discontent because it was a corner kick, presenting a prime opportunity to score. Nonetheless, credit to the coach for sensing the need to introduce the player who ultimately scored. Thus, I am content," affirmed Ion Nicolaescu.
"A hard-fought victory. We must exhibit greater maturity on the field. We cannot afford lapses in concentration, as evidenced by the two goals conceded in the second half. This is unacceptable. I intend to address this with the team because if we aspire to ascend to a higher level, we must demonstrate greater maturity," declared coach Serghei Cleșcenco.
On Tuesday, June 11th, the "tricolours" will face Ukraine at the Zimbru Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM, and the match will be broadcasted exclusively on the national television channel Moldova 1.
