Scotland opened the scoring in the 13th minute. After the Swiss took a corner kick, the Scots launched a counterattack. Che Adams, positioned on the left flank, found Scott McTominay with a pass on the edge of the penalty area. McTominay's shot was deflected into his own net by Fabian Schar. Switzerland equalised in the 26th minute. A mistake by Scottish defender Anthony Ralston, who attempted an errant pass to his goalkeeper, allowed Xherdan Shaqiri to intercept the ball. From outside the penalty area, Shaqiri unleashed a superb strike that found the corner of the net, beating Angus Gunn. The Swiss had another goal chalked off later on, as Dan Ndoye's effort was ruled offside.

The second half saw further chances for both sides. Ndoye again threatened for Switzerland, breaking past Grant Hanley and going one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Gunn denied him with a reflex save for a corner. Scotland nearly took the lead themselves when Hanley's slight header from a free kick struck the crossbar. In the closing stages, Switzerland had another goal disallowed for offside, this time from Breel Embolo. Their final opportunity came in the 90th minute, with Zeki Amdouni's header failing to find the target.

Germany currently leads Group A with six points and has secured qualification for the knockout stages. Switzerland sits in second place with four points, ahead of Scotland with one point. Hungary remains without points at the bottom of the group.
