PDCM Nominates Ion Chicu for October 20 Presidential Elections

The Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM) will participate in the October 20 presidential elections with its own candidate.

The political party nominated former Prime Minister Ion Chicu in the presidential race. The decision was made by the party's National Political Council on June 22, and was announced by the party leader, Ion Chicu, on June 24.

“By the decision of the National Political Council, I was designated as the candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova for the October 20, 2024 presidential elections. I extend sincere thanks to my colleagues in the PDCM for the high level of trust they have placed in me with this decision, and I commit to making every effort to achieve victory,” wrote Ion Chicu on social media.

The politician announced that the party he leads will boycott the referendum on Moldova's joining the European Union, initiated by President Maia Sandu.

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova that are expected to vote on October 20. On this day, both the presidential elections and the referendum on joining the EU will be held.
